Do students build the tiny homes?
Students and trainees may participate in tiny-home and shed production through supervised work-based learning. Instructors, production personnel, and licensed trades oversee or perform work where required. Student participation is integrated into the approved project scope, safety procedures, quality-control process, and applicable construction requirements.
Program overview
From plan to customer-ready completion
The program prepares students for entry-level construction employment through classroom instruction, lab work, and supervised production experience - learning how projects move from plan to materials, framing, exterior shell, interior finish, quality control, and completion.
Program modules
Nine modules, one continuous build

Orientation, Safety, and Career Readiness
Jobsite expectations, safety culture, PPE, attendance, professionalism, and construction career pathways.

Construction Math and Blueprint Reading
Measuring, reading plans, understanding elevations, interpreting dimensions, and calculating material needs.
- 03
Tools and Materials
Hand tools, power tools, fasteners, lumber, sheet goods, hardware, and shop safety.
- 04
Floor and Wall Framing
Floor systems, wall framing, openings, headers, bracing, and structural layout.
- 05
Roof, Siding, and Exterior Envelope
Roof basics, sheathing, weather protection, siding, trim, windows, and doors.

Interior Finishing
Insulation, drywall basics, flooring, cabinets, trim, painting, and punch-list completion.
- 07
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Awareness
Basic MEP awareness, safety, utility planning, and when licensed trades are required.

Paid Work-Based Learning Lab
Work on real tiny-home and shed builds while documenting skills, hours, and supervisor feedback.

Entrepreneurship and Project Management
Construction business basics, customer service, estimating concepts, scheduling, change orders, and small contractor pathways.
